Overview

What the Brave AI Answers API does

POST /v1/brave_ai asks Brave Search's AI answer as a logged-out visitor and returns the answer as text and markdown with [n](link) citations, the inline-cited sources, the search_queries it ran to answer (its fan-out), and products with price, rating and merchant.

It is the fastest of the assistants, 1 to 10 seconds per answer, and the cheapest, which makes it a good first pass over a large prompt set. country sets Brave's market (prices and shops follow it).

track adds mentions for up to 20 brands and domains.

See AI visibility tracking.

Filters and limits

  • prompt up to 4,000 characters; one turn per request.
  • country sets Brave's market; language the interface language.
  • Not the Brave Search API's own answers product: this is the answer brave.com shows visitors.

AI visibility

Is your brand in the answer?

  • track takes up to 20 brands ("Pipedrive") and domains ("hubspot.com", subdomains match).
  • Each comes back in mentions: named in the text, cited, the matching sources and products, and how early it's named (text_position, 0 to 1).
  • A monitor asks the prompt hourly, daily or weekly and reports every answer with its mentions and new_sources, to a signed webhook. Each run costs 2 credits.
  • Answers vary between runs: ask each prompt several times and track how often you're named. AI visibility guide

Brave AI Answers API parameters
Name Type Default Description
