Buyer's guide
Serper alternatives in 2026
Why people leave Serper: credits that expire after 6 months and no official SDKs or MCP server. Every pick below is judged against Serper, including where Serper is still the better deal.
We make SerpKite
Ranking
Our picks, by use case
-
1$1.00 → $0.60 / 1k
SerpKite
Best for: Serper users who want the same simple Google call without expiring credits
The closest swap in spirit: one call per Google page at about 1 credit, but credits never expire and
format=markdownreturns LLM-ready output from the same call. List price is about 20% under Serper at the ~$50 and 500k tiers ($0.80 vs $1.00, $0.60 vs $0.75).Strengths
Never-expiring credits instead of a 6-month clock,
format=markdown/compactfor agents, official TypeScript/Python/Go SDKs, native LangChain and CrewAI tools and an MCP server.Watch out for
Serper's 2.5M and 12.5M packs ($0.50 and $0.30 per 1k) beat our self-serve list; above 500K credits we quote volume on request (enterprise from $0.18 at 25M+ a month). Serper's 2 credits for 11–100 results beats our 7-credit
num=100. We're new and haven't published a benchmark yet. -
2$1.00 → $0.14 / 1k
Scrapingdog
Best for: Serper users whose only complaint is price at high, steady volume
Cheaper than Serper at every tier past entry on list price ($0.45 vs $0.75 around 100k, $0.29 vs $0.50 around 1M, $0.136 vs $0.30 at best), and it adds Google AI Mode, Lens and Trends endpoints Serper doesn't have.
What it fixes vs Serper
Lower volume list price, AI Mode and Trends, AI Overview parsing (Advanced plan).
Where Serper still wins
Credits reset monthly, which is harsher than Serper's 6 months if usage is lumpy. The same $1.00 per 1k at entry. No official MCP server.
-
3$4.00 → $1.00 / 1k
SearchApi
Best for: Serper users who now also need non-Google engines or AI answer engines
Where Serper stops at Google, SearchApi adds about 60 engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini answer APIs for AI-visibility tracking.
What it fixes vs Serper
Engine breadth, AI Overview, AI-answer endpoints, and a $2M legal protection Serper doesn't offer.
Where Serper still wins
Entry is $4.00 per 1k, four times Serper's. Monthly credits. SearchApi is a defendant in SerpApi's trade-secret suit.
-
4$0.60 / 2.00 → $0.60 / 2.00 / 1k
DataForSEO
Best for: Serper users running rank tracking who can wait for a queue
Trades Serper's real-time calls for a $0.60 per 1k standard queue (about 5 minutes) with never-expiring credits, plus keyword, backlink and on-page datasets.
What it fixes vs Serper
Credits that never expire, a cheaper queue than Serper's entry price, and SEO data beyond SERPs.
Where Serper still wins
Live mode is $2.00 per 1k, double Serper's entry. The queue is too slow for agents, and the task-based API takes longer to integrate.
-
5$15–25 → $1.96 / 1k
SerpApi
Best for: Serper users who outgrew Google-only and need compliance paperwork
The step up in breadth and support: about 30 Google verticals plus Bing, Baidu, Amazon, YouTube and more, with SOC 2, a $2M legal shield and 11 SDKs.
What it fixes vs Serper
Coverage, parsing depth, AI Overview and AI Mode, SOC 2 and support, all of which Serper lacks.
Where Serper still wins
$15–25 per 1k at entry, 15–25× Serper. Monthly resets and hourly throughput caps. A defendant in Google's and Reddit's suits.
-
6$1.23 → $0.35 / 1k
HasData
Best for: Serper users who want a free tier that renews
Google SERP and vertical APIs with 1k free credits every month (Serper's 2,500 are one-time) and Light plans from $1.23 down to $0.35 per 1k.
What it fixes vs Serper
Recurring free credits, and cheaper than Serper around 100k ($0.50 vs $0.75) and 1M ($0.35 vs $0.50).
Where Serper still wins
A higher entry price than Serper, monthly credits and fewer agent-focused features.
-
7$7.50 → enterprise / 1k
Tavily
Best for: Serper users in agent frameworks who don't need Google's ranking
Not a like-for-like swap: Tavily searches its own index and returns cleaned page content and an optional answer, saving the fetch step Serper leaves to you.
What it fixes vs Serper
Content extraction and answers in one call; the default tool in GPT Researcher and many agent templates.
Where Serper still wins
$7.50 → $5.00 per 1k, 5–7× Serper, and not Google results, so rankings differ from what users see.

Public list prices for Google web search, verified on vendor pages on 2026-09-28. "Entry" is the ~$50 pack or plan (SerpKite also has a $10 pack at $1.00 per 1k). SerpKite's self-serve packs stop at 500K credits; larger volumes are quoted on request. Expiring credits raise the effective price if you don't use them in time. See SerpKite pricing.
Methodology
How we rank
We rank by fit for a use case, not by a single score. For each vendor we look at:
- Effective price: list price per 1k at four volumes, plus credit expiry and whether failed or empty results are billed.
- Correctness: Google parity of the top 10, and resolved destination URLs (after Google's
/gotochange). - Speed and reliability: p50/p95 latency and success rate, counting "200 OK, empty" as a failure.
- Agent ergonomics: output formats, token cost, MCP server, SDKs and framework integrations.
- Terms and trust: spend caps, data retention, DPA, compliance and how data is collected.
Measured results (latency, success rate, URL correctness) come from a reproducible benchmark with a public query set and scripts. Results are published monthly on /benchmarks. Until a run is published there, this ranking uses published features and list prices only, and we don't quote performance numbers.
