Activepieces + SerpKite
Install the SerpKite piece from npm and search Google, read and crawl websites, get cited answers and ask AI assistants in any Activepieces flow. One API key connection and no request bodies to write.
Install the piece from npm
The SerpKite piece isn't in the Activepieces catalog, so a platform admin installs it by name on self-hosted Activepieces (step 2). On Activepieces Cloud, use the HTTP piece setup below.
Overview
What Activepieces is, and where SerpKite fits
Activepieces is an open-source automation tool for flows and AI agents. The SerpKite piece (@serpkite/piece-serpkite on npm, published with provenance) adds 25 actions with fields for the options each endpoint takes. Outputs are the API's JSON, or Markdown where an action offers a Format option, so every field can be used in later steps.
Crawls and research run in the background: start them in one step and get the result by ID in a later one, or receive it on a webhook.
Setup
Set it up in 4 steps
-
1
Get an API key
Sign up (no card), create a key in the dashboard and export it as
SERPKITE_API_KEY. New accounts get 2,500 free credits, then 1,000 every month.export SERPKITE_API_KEY=skt_live_… -
2
Install the piece
As a platform admin, open Platform Admin → Pieces → Install Piece. Choose NPM Registry, enter
@serpkite/piece-serpkiteand the latest version from npm, and install. It then appears as SerpKite in the piece picker. -
3
Connect your account
Add a SerpKite step to a flow, create a new connection and paste your full
skt_live_…key. Activepieces checks it against your account, which spends no credits. -
4
Pick an action
For example Search Google with a query from the trigger, or Ask ChatGPT with a prompt. Test the step, then use
resultsormarkdownin the next steps.

Without the piece: the HTTP piece

What the SerpKite piece does
Search: Search Google (results count, page, time range, domain filters, the top pages as Markdown and a cited answer), Google News, Images, Videos, Shopping, Maps, Scholar, Patents and Autocomplete, plus Get Place Details.
Web: Fetch Webpage (a page or PDF as Markdown), Extract Pages (up to 20 URLs with query-ranked highlights, an AI summary or JSON for a schema), Map a Website, and Start Site Crawl / Get Crawl Result.
AI: Answer with Citations, Start Deep Research / Get Research Result, and Ask ChatGPT, Ask Gemini, Ask Copilot Search, Ask Google AI Mode and Ask Brave AI. Other: Get Account Balance and a Custom API Call (any endpoint, with the connection's key). Every action is billed per the pricing page; failed and empty requests are free.
AI assistants
Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI assistants
Add Ask ChatGPT, Ask Gemini, Ask Copilot Search, Ask Google AI Mode or Ask Brave AI with a prompt and the brands or domains to Track. The action waits for the answer (up to two minutes), well inside a flow step's time limit (10 minutes by default on self-hosted Activepieces), and returns it (text, markdown) with cited sources, products and mentions of what you track.
Every assistant is one POST: https://api.serpkite.com/v1/chatgpt (or /v1/gemini, /v1/copilot, /v1/ai_mode, /v1/brave_ai) with the same Bearer header and a JSON body with prompt. With the HTTP piece instead, set its timeout to 120 seconds. The response has the answer (text, markdown), cited sources, products and, with track, mentions of your brands and domains. See AI assistants.
To track answers over time without a long-running step, create a monitor once (endpoint: "chatgpt", prompt, track, webhook_url): every run is POSTed to your webhook with the answer, its new_sources and mentions.
ChatGPT 4, Gemini 3, Copilot Search 3, Google AI Mode 2 and Brave AI 2 credits per answer; failed, refused and empty answers are free. Brave answers in 1–10 s, ChatGPT in 10–30 s and Gemini in 5–30 s, so allow at least 120 seconds per call.
